The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has confirmed an unprecedented $1,000,000 prize for the 2026 WSOP Player of the Year (POY) competition. For the first time, results across WSOP Europe, WSOP Las Vegas, and WSOP Paradise will feed into a single global ranking.
This change is designed to reward consistent results and sustained volume, encouraging a season-long race rather than a single-series chase. The top 100 players will receive WSOP tickets, and the winner will receive a $100,000 package to the WSOP Paradise.
“We are thrilled to kick off 2026 with a bold new vision for the World Series of Poker,” said Ty Stewart, CEO of WSOP. “By uniting our three flagship live series under a unified, $1M Player of the Year competition, we’re giving players a true global season to chase history. Starting with a monster guarantee in Prague, continuing through our summer homecoming in Las Vegas, and culminating in Paradise, we are dedicated to offering the best value and the biggest stages in the world,” Stewart added.
What Changed in 2026
The 2026 WSOP Player of the Year race introduces a global format built around season-long results and meaningful rewards. Key changes include:
- Unified Global Ranking: Results from WSOP Europe, WSOP Las Vegas, and WSOP Paradise contribute to a single ranking.
- $1M Prize Pool: The prize money, distributed as exclusive WSOP packages, is awarded to the top 100 finishers.
- Scoring: Only a player’s top 15 results are considered, emphasizing consistency and strong performance streaks.
- Points: New multipliers are applied to winners (6x), final tables (4x), in-the-money (2x), and busted (1x).
- Ineligible events: Non-open formats (such as Seniors or Ladies) and online bracelets do not count toward the POY standings.
Uniting Three Flagship Series
To reinvent the prestigious POY, which previously focused solely on the summer, the competition will now span almost the entire year across WSOP Europe, Las Vegas, and WSOP Paradise.
The main event in 2026 will feature a guaranteed prize pool of €10,000,000 with a €5,300 buy-in. This represents the largest prize pool ever offered in a European poker tournament, reinforcing the WSOP’s commitment to attracting top professionals.
This structure provides players with multiple opportunities to win significant prizes in high-value tournaments across various levels. Furthermore, as in previous seasons, there will be opportunities to win bracelets and accumulate significant points in the Player of the Year race.

Key Rules and Eligibility
Not all events are eligible for the WSOP leaderboard ranking. Closed (non-open) events are not eligible for POY points. Examples of events that do not count toward the additional prize include the Super Seniors and Ladies Championship and similar events.
Tie situations are subject to specific terms. If multiple players are eliminated in the same round, they will receive the same points, calculated based on the average of the points for those final positions.
Why It Matters
For professional players, the unified prize competition structure incentivizes high-volume tournament players across multiple regions.
This provides consistent players with numerous opportunities to accumulate points and ascend the rankings. The rule to count only a player’s top 15 results promotes consistent high performance.
For the poker industry, this enhances the popularity of the Player of the Year award, recognizing the most skilled live tournament player. Additionally, increased participation boosts the number of participants and the total prize pool.
For more casual players and fans, accessible qualification paths via satellites on major online platforms make live entries feel more realistic, especially for anyone comparing where to play online on the best poker sites.
