This $250 buy-in tournament turned out to be the biggest tournament ever held at CoinPoker, exceeding its initial guarantee of $5 million. Seven players made it to the final table and shared $2.4 million.
While TonyTheToenailcollector dominated the final table, some other players also recorded career-best results.
How TonyTheToenailcollector Won CoinPoker The One
TonyTheToenailcollector went into the final table of CoinPoker The One with an already huge chip lead, which he maintained throughout the competition.
CoinPoker reported that the player led by chips through all 170 hands played at the final table, allowing the other finalists very little room to fight back.
TonyTheToenailcollector also participated in several Day 1 flights before joining the final table. He had taken part in satellite tournaments and had made eight direct buy-ins, qualifying for the next day of the tournament with a stack of 76 big blinds.
When the final table began, the future winner had a stack of around 110 big blinds.
As the number of players was decreasing, TonyTheToenailcollector increased the pressure on shorter stacks. The players who got knocked out of the final table were SeniorTalez in fifth place and VivaLasVegans in fourth.
SeniorTalez was eliminated when Tony’s king-ten made a straight against his ace-eight. VivaLasVegans got knocked out when Ace-four was beaten by Tony’s queen-four on the river.
At the beginning of heads-up play, TonyTheToenailcollector had 95 big blinds against just 23 of zoru99.
The Final Hand Against zoru99
The final hand in CoinPoker The One was a battle of two pocket pairs.
TonyTheToenailcollector had 7♠ 7♥, whereas zoru99 started with a better hand, holding 9♥ 9♦.
Both players managed to put their chips in the pot before the flop.
The cards were as follows:
- Flop: J♥ 2♦ 7♣
- Turn: J♣
- River: 5♦
Despite zoru99’s initial advantage with pocket nines, Tony made a set of sevens on the flop.
Then, when a jack showed up on the turn, he completed a full house, although zoru99 still had a chance to win on the river.
This hand marked the end of the competition, and TonyTheToenailcollector took the $1 million first-place prize.
zoru99 finished in second place and earned $500,000.
